´Shake´-ira
After a plethora of mixups and mayhem, Martyn and I have arrived in Rio.
The plane was two hours late, we missed our transfer to the hotel, could get money out of the atms to pay for a cab, but.... WE ARE HERE!
The place is absolutely crazy, people wearing little, drinking and dancing in the streets, and I am not just talking one or two streets, I am talking the whole city is alive.
We hopped into a cab, and Martyn needed to change his knickers (twice) on the ride over to our hotel. They drive so erratically, worse than Colin! The buses are the same way. You gotta hang on for dear life.
Last night we headed down to Impanema, and partied on the streets. Different corners determined your sexual persuasion, but we only picked this up, after Martyn was surrounded by pashing lesbians. So off we toddled to explore further and we ended up residing in a gay section. Here, men in skirts and wigs taught me to Rumba! It was hilarious, many a time they would shake their finger at me, ´too Shakira, too Shakira!´ The key is to keep your torso still while you shake your booty. I got it in the end, naturally. lol
Within the group there was a a drag queen, donning a long golden wig, and a hair brush in hand. She had eyes only for Martyn. She propositioned him, jokingly he told her, ´hombre, si, but senorita, no´. To prove she was a man she stripped down to nothing, and I mean nada! Unfortunately I missed the whole bloody thing as I was getting chased by a lesbian, wanting a kiss.
As penance for such a great time, we are now nursing dirty great big hangovers, and were woken by an impromptu parade down our street. Drums, whistles, people and a combi sporting mo-fo speakers on the roof, leaving only room for the driver.
