Pothole on the path to the Samba-drome pt 2
On Tuesday we got up early and headed over to the Brazilian embassy. We arrive a little after 10am, and wishing Martyn good luck I pressed level 5.
Aflter walking through security we completed our applications via computer, and pressd the submit button, hoping that it when through to the right area. We then went to line up. Lots of people getting short tempered, no proof of entry or exit from the country, therefore your documentation is not up to scratch. Lucky we had all our documentation.
Our turn came, and tick, tick, tick against the hard copy of the application and our passports and plane tickets, all was going well......´please come back at 4pm Friday to pick up your visa´. ´
´Hmmm´ we said in unison ´well there-in lies the problem, you see, our flight is at 10:30am Friday morning´ The lady replied ´Lo siento, no exceptions´
FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARK!
Well we had to hot foot it to the bank to pay for the visa $115 pesos, and then run to the travel agent to see what he could do. He had to email GOL, the airline, and find out. Everything is handled by email here, it´s bloody frustrating! And Cause I was so eager to close this out I asked if we could call back and follow up in 2 hours time. Martyn asked if I needed to go home and change my cranky pants. I told him he ain´t seen nothing yet. I think he was just testing the waters. In fact I was pretty calm about it, there really was no other choice. Just miffed that we could potentially forfeit over Au$1500, through lack of planning. Given the situation, I asked him to have a durry on my behalf, as it was pretty much the only thing we could do! He had several.
Luckily Carlos our travel agent managed to change our flight to the following morning - at 5:30am Eeke! But still an excellent outcome.
See you in Rio! (Albeit a day late)
